3
لَعَلَّكَ بَـٰخِعٌ نَّفْسَكَ أَلَّا يَكُونُوا۟ مُؤْمِنِينَ la`allaka bākhi`un nafsaka allā yakūnū mu-minīn You may perhaps wear out your heart because they do not come to belief.
4
إِن نَّشَأْ نُنَزِّلْ عَلَيْهِم مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ ءَايَةً فَظَلَّتْ أَعْنَـٰقُهُمْ لَهَا خَـٰضِعِينَ in nasha-nunazzil `alayhim minas samā-i āyatan faẓallat a`nāquhum lahā khāḍi`īn We could send down from the heavens a sign to them if We pleased, before which their heads would remain bowed.
5
وَمَا يَأْتِيهِم مِّن ذِكْرٍ مِّنَ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ مُحْدَثٍ إِلَّا كَانُوا۟ عَنْهُ مُعْرِضِينَ wa mā ya-tīhim min dhikrin minar raḥmāni muḥdathin illā kānū `anhu mu`riḍīn Never does a new reminder come to them from Ar-Rahman but they turn away from it.
6
فَقَدْ كَذَّبُوا۟ فَسَيَأْتِيهِمْ أَنۢبَـٰٓؤُا۟ مَا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ faqad kadhhabū fasaya-tīhim anbā-u mā kānū bihi yastahzi-ūn Surely they have done with denying; soon will come to them the news of what they were laughing at.
7

14
وَلَهُمْ عَلَىَّ ذَنۢبٌ فَأَخَافُ أَن يَقْتُلُونِ walahum `alayya dhanbun fa-akhāfu an yaqtulūn And they have a charge (of murder) against me. So I fear that they will kill me."

أَفَرَءَيْتَ إِن مَّتَّعْنَـٰهُمْ سِنِينَ afara ayta in matta`nāhum sinīn Just think: If We let them enjoy (the good things of life) for a few years more,
206
ثُمَّ جَآءَهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يُوعَدُونَ thumma jā-ahum mā kānū yū`adūn And then what they were promised comes upon them,
207
مَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يُمَتَّعُونَ mā aghnā `anhum mā kānū yumatta`ūn Of what avail shall their enjoyment be to them?
208
وَمَآ أَهْلَكْنَا مِن قَرْيَةٍ إِلَّا لَهَا مُنذِرُونَ wa mā ahlaknā min qaryatin illā lahā mundhirūn Never have We destroyed a habitation till We had sent admonishers to them
209
ذِكْرَىٰ وَمَا كُنَّا ظَـٰلِمِينَ dhikrā wa mā kunnā ẓālimīn To warn. For We are never unjust.
210
وَمَا تَنَزَّلَتْ بِهِ ٱلشَّيَـٰطِينُ wa mā tanazzalat bihish shayāṭīn The devils did not bring it down:
211
وَمَا يَنۢبَغِى لَهُمْ وَمَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ wa mā yanbaghī lahum wa mā yastaṭī`ūn They are not worthy of it, nor have they power.
212
إِنَّهُمْ عَنِ ٱلسَّمْعِ لَمَعْزُولُونَ innahum `anis sam`i lama`zūlūn They have been precluded from hearing it.
213
فَلَا تَدْعُ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَـٰهًا ءَاخَرَ فَتَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُعَذَّبِينَ falā tad`u ma`allāhi ilāhan ākhara fatakūna minal mu`adhhabīn So call on no other god but God, lest you are condemned to torment;
214
وَأَنذِرْ عَشِيرَتَكَ ٱلْأَقْرَبِينَ wa-andhir `ashīratakal-aqrabīn And warn your near relations,
215
وَٱخْفِضْ جَنَاحَكَ لِمَنِ ٱتَّبَعَكَ مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ wakhfiḍ janāḥaka limanit-taba`aka minal mu-minīn And take those believers under your wing who follow you.
216
فَإِنْ عَصَوْكَ فَقُلْ إِنِّى بَرِىٓءٌ مِّمَّا تَعْمَلُونَ fa-in `aṣawka faqul innī barī-un mimmā ta`malūn If they do not obey you, tell them: "I am not responsible for what you do."
217
وَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ watawakkal `alal-`azīzir raḥīm Have trust in the Mighty, the Merciful,
218
ٱلَّذِى يَرَىٰكَ حِينَ تَقُومُ alladhī yarāka ḥīna taqūm Who watches you when you get up,
219
وَتَقَلُّبَكَ فِى ٱلسَّـٰجِدِينَ wataqallubaka fis sājidīn And your movements among those who bow in homage to God.
220
إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ innahu huwas samī`ul `alīm He is all-hearing and all-knowing.
221
هَلْ أُنَبِّئُكُمْ عَلَىٰ مَن تَنَزَّلُ ٱلشَّيَـٰطِينُ hal unabbi-ukum `alā man tanazzalush shayāṭīn Should I tell you on whom the devils descend?
222
تَنَزَّلُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ أَفَّاكٍ أَثِيمٍ tanazzalu `alā kulli affākin athīm They come down to every mendacious sinner,
223
يُلْقُونَ ٱلسَّمْعَ وَأَكْثَرُهُمْ كَـٰذِبُونَ yulqūnas sam`a wa-aktharuhum kādhibūn Who listens to you (for spreading rumours); but most of them are liars.
224
وَٱلشُّعَرَآءُ يَتَّبِعُهُمُ ٱلْغَاوُۥنَ wash shu`arā-u yattabi`uhumul ghāwūn As for the poets, only those who go astray follow them.
225
أَلَمْ تَرَ أَنَّهُمْ فِى كُلِّ وَادٍ يَهِيمُونَ alam tara annahum fī kulli wādiy yahīmūn Have you not seen that they wander distract in every valley,
226
وَأَنَّهُمْ يَقُولُونَ مَا لَا يَفْعَلُونَ wa-annahum yaqūlūna mā lā yaf`alūn And they say what they do not do,
227
إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ وَذَكَرُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ كَثِيرًا وَٱنتَصَرُوا۟ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا ظُلِمُوا۟ ۗ وَسَيَعْلَمُ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوٓا۟ أَىَّ مُنقَلَبٍ يَنقَلِبُونَ illal ladhīna āmanū wa`amiluṣ ṣāliḥāti wadhakarullāha kathīran wantaṣarū min ba`di mā ẓulimū ۗ wasaya`lamul ladhīna ẓalamū ayya munqalabiy yanqalibūn Except those who believe and do the right, and remember God a great deal, who retaliate only when they have been wronged. Yet the oppressors will now come to know through what reversals they will be overthrown!
